You'll find that many YPOC workshops have an audio-visual component. Over the course of 13 years in youth enrichment I've discovered that the more you vary your lesson planning, the more engaged students are and the more students you can reach. We sing, rap, write poetry and plays, create art and always leave time for relaxation and conversation. You can't teach children you don't know, and we love our students enough to take the time out and learn who they are in order to help them be who they were meant to be.
